Norsk institutt for luftforskning (NILU), Norsk institutt for vannforskning (NIVA) og Norsk institutt for naturforskning (NINA) har utredet virkninger på naturmiljøet av utslipp av NOx, SO2 og partikler til luft fra eventuell framtidig petroleumsaktivitet i Barentshavet. Det er beregnet avsetning av nitrogen, svovel og partikler - og det er beregnet dannelse av ozon. Videre er det vurdert hvilke effekter dette har for naturen. Beregningene tilsier at utslippene høyst sannsynlig ikke vil føre til negative effekter på vegetasjon og fauna i de terrestriske influensområdene.

NILU - Norsk institutt for luftforskning har beregnet konsentrasjoner av NO2, SO2 og PM10 i luft, samt nitrogen- og svovelavsetning som følge av utslipp til luft fra Hammerfest LNG med tilhørende skipstrafikk. Beregningene viser at konsentrasjon av NO2 kan overskride Klifs anbefalte luftkvalitetskriterier, men ikke EUs grenseverdier eller Nasjonale mål. For SO2 og PM10 er det ikke overskridelser av noen grenseverdier. Videre viser beregningene en maksimal avsetning på 14 mg N /m2 og 11 mg S /m2 per år.

Assessment of traffic noise and mitigation options for Al Salam Street. NILU OR

Acting on request from the Abu Dhabi Municipality, Norwegian Institute for Air Research has been asked by the Abu Dhabi Municipality to evaluate the current noise levels on Salam Street and recommend mitigation measures to control the noise.

NILU provided traffic count data collected near the Sheikh Zayed Bridge and these were used in conjunction with an acoustic model to predict the existing noise conditions at 126 sensitive receptor locations.The predicted sound levels were compared to measured sound levels collected at seven (7) locations along Al Salam Street to validate the results of the modelling. This comparison showed strong correlation between the modelled and measured results.
Several mitigation options provided by NILU were incorporated into subsequent runs of the baseline model in order to predict the effectiveness of each option. It was found that the installation of a 5 m barrier adjacent to the outbound lanes of Al Salam Street would be the most effective individual mitigation option.
