Indoor air quality at Life Technologies AS. Measurement of particulate matter. NILU OR

NILU - Norsk institutt for luftforskning har utført malinger av partikler på Life Technologies AS (tidligere Invitrogen Dynal AS) i Lillestrøm. Prøvetaking foregikk ved tre steder i produksjonsdelen av firmaet i perioden 31. januar til 28. februar 2012. Tidligere studier av lignende art ble gjennomført i 2007 og 2010.
Resultatene fra denne undersøkelsen viste at alle målte partikkelkonsentrasjoner var godt under normene fra Arbeidstilsynet. Den høyeste observerte PM2.5-konsentrasjonen var 14,5 µg/m3 under dagtid i NIT-280 (50 l reaktor), som er klart under normen anbefalt av Folkehelseinstituttet. Ingen av PM-prøvene tatt hos Life Technologies AS viste en verdi som overstiger selskapets eksponeringsgrense (OEL) for Dynabeads.

Ambient air quality in Abu Dhabi. 2011 annual report. NILU OR

This Annual Report has been based on data from ten air quality monitoring stations operated in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during 2011. The data have been ¿cleaned¿ and prepared as a basis for the statistics presented in this report. Air pollution in Abu Dhabi is dominated by suspended particles in the air. One of the main sources is linked to dust from the desert areas and to the occurrence of sand storms. Air Quality limit values for PM10 were exceeded at all monitoring sites in Abu Dhabi in 2011.
Limit values for 8-hour average ozone concentrations were also exceeded at all stations. Limit values for SO2, NO2 and CO were not exceeded in Abu Dhabi Emirate during 2011.

NORTRIP model development and documentation: NOn-exhaust Road TRaffic Induced Particle emission modelling. NILU OR

The NORTRIP model is the result of research efforts carried out by a number of Nordic institutes to improve our understanding and ability to model non-exhaust traffic emissions and has been developed through the Nordic Council of Ministers project NORTRIP (NOn-exhaust Road Traffic Induced Particle emissions). The NORTRIP model is a process based non-exhaust emission model that is intended for application without site specific empirical factors. It takes into account direct wear emissions, the build up of mass on the road surface, the suspension of this mass, as well as the application and suspension of salt and sand. It combines a road dust sub-model with a road moisture sub-model in order to properly describe the retention of dust on the road surface. The model can be applied for assessment purposes and for the management and evaluation of abatement strategies regarding road wear, salting and sanding. The model development and its documentation, along with its application to a large number of Nordic datasets, is described in detail in this report.
