Environmental pollutants in the terrestrial and urban environment 2025
Samples from the urban terrestrial environment in the Oslo area were analysed for metals and a large number of organic environmental pollutants. The selected sample types that were analysed were sparrowhawk egg and liver samples of red fox and badger. Biomagnification potential was estimated based on detected data for relevant predator-prey pairs using data from year 2021 to 2025.

Måleprogram for tungmetallinnhold i støv og svevestøv i Rambergstua
NILU har kartlagt konsentrasjoner og kilder til tungmetaller i støv og luft i Rambergstua etter funn av høye blynivåer i 2025. Original rosemaling fra 1784 er hovedkilden, med høyt blyinnhold i hvit, rød og grønn maling, samt kvikksølv i rødfargen. Støvsugd støv inneholder fortsatt tungmetaller, men blynivået er vesentlig lavere enn i 2025. Svevestøv og kvikksølvgass ligger langt under Folkehelseinstituttets (FHI) helsebaserte luftkvalitetskriterier. Forvitret maling faller raskt til gulvet fremfor å holdes svevende.
Det konkluderes med at bygget er trygt å oppholde seg i. Det anbefales regelmessig støvsuging, opphør av bespisning, begrenset overflateberøring og god håndvask for å sikre et trygt innemiljø.

Forurensning i de norske havområdene - Barentshavet, Norskehavet og Nordsjøen
Denne rapporten fra Overvåkingsgruppen gir en oversikt over forurensningstilstanden i norske havområder. Overvåkingsgruppen har ansvar for 42 indikatorer med relevans for forurensning, publisert på miljostatus.no. Disse dekker blant annet lufttilførsler av miljøgifter og forurensning i sedimenter, forurensning i en rekke ulike marine arter, og tilførsler som skyldes aktiviteter i havområdene. Rapporten oppsummerer resultater fra indikatorene på miljostatus.no og fra andre publikasjoner om forurensning i de norske havområdene, for å gi en vurdering av hvordan ulike forurensende stoffer varierer med hensyn til bakgrunnsnivå, geografi, utvikling siste ti år, mattrygghet og mulige effekter på økosystemet. Som grunnlag for senere utvikling av egnede indikatorer for marin forsøpling, er det et eget kapittel som oppsummerer overvåkingen som finnes om marin forsøpling i Norge, både overvåking av mikroplast, strandsøppel, forsøpling i elver og søppel på havbunnen. Rapporten inneholder også et temakapittel om transportmodellering av miljøgifter som gir en oversikt over metoder for modellering samt hvordan disse kan brukes i miljøgiftovervåking.

Monitoring of environmental contaminants in freshwater food webs (MILFERSK), 2025
This report presents data from the fifth year of a five-year period for the MILFERSK program. In 2025, the monitoring program focused on the sampling and analysis of the pelagic food chain in Lake Mjøsa, encompassing the following sample types: zooplankton mainly epipelagic species, Mysis, vendace, E. smelt, and brown trout. Additionally, brown trout from the reference lake, Femunden, were collected. The concentrations of 228 individual compounds/isomers were determined, with frequent detections of specific per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), mercury (Hg), and siloxanes exhibiting biomagnifying properties throughout the food chain. Time series of these
contaminant groups show declining concentrations in brown trout in Lake Mjøsa. We also observe lower concentrations in the pelagic biota for phthalates and UVcompounds, compared to in 2023 when last pelagic biota was included in the program. Out of the 14 car tyre compounds included in the analysis of pelagic biota in 2025, only DPG and 6PPD Q were detected at low levels in zooplankton and Mysis.

Monitoring of the atmospheric ozone layer and natural ultraviolet radiation. Annual report 2025
This report summarizes the results from the Norwegian monitoring programme on stratospheric ozone and UV radiation measurements. The ozone layer has been measured at three locations since 1979: In Oslo/Kjeller, Tromsø/Andøya and Ny-Ålesund. The UV measurements started in 1995. The results show that there was a significant decrease in stratospheric ozone above Norway between 1979 and 1997. After that, the ozone layer stabilized at a level ~2% below pre-1980 level. The year 2025 was characterized by low total ozone values most of the year, especially at Kjeller and Andøya, which contributed to high annual UV doses at these stations.

This report documents the EMEP VOC monitoring carried out in 2024. The levels of the measured species in 2024 are presented as well as the 2024-status and history of the VOC programme. The geographical pattern of the species in Europe is discussed as well as the long-term trend during the last 20 years.

Environmental Contaminants in an Urban Fjord, 2025
This report presents data from the last year of a 5-year period of the Urban Fjord programme. The programme started in 2013 and has since been altered/advanced. In 2025 the programme covers sampling and analyses of sediment, polychaetes, krill, shrimps, blue mussels, herring, cod, eider, and herring gull from the Inner Oslofjord. A total of 230 single compounds/isomers were analysed, and frequent detection was found of specific PFAS compounds (e.g. PFOS) in most matrices, certain QACs in several matrices (ATAC-C22 in all
matrices), specific benzothiazoles in eider blood, LCCPs in certain matrices, certain siloxanes in most matrices, metals in all matrices and PCBs in all matrices. Biomagnification was observed for 24 PCB congeners, LCCPs and D4 (siloxane; lipid wt. basis). Furthermore, biomagnification was observed for PFOSA, ATAC-C20 and ATAC-C22, as well as for the metals As and Hg (wet wt. basis).
