							Skogens helsetilstand påvirkes i stor grad av klima og værforhold, enten direkte ved tørke, frost og vind, eller indirekte ved at klimaet påvirker omfanget av soppsykdommer og insektangrep. Klimaendringene og den forventede økningen i klimarelaterte skogskader gir store utfordringer for forvaltningen av framtidas skogressurser. Det samme gjør invaderende skadegjørere, både allerede etablerte arter og nye som kan komme til Norge i nær framtid. I denne rapporten presenteres resultater fra skogskadeovervåkingen i Norge i 2023 og trender over tid for følgende temaer:
(i) Landsrepresentativ skogovervåking; 
(ii) Intensiv skogovervåking; 
(iii) Overvåking av bjørkemålere i Troms og Finnmark; 
(iv) Barkbilleovervåkingen 2023: økende fangster – særlig i stormrammede områder; 
(v) Søk etter Ips-arter utenfor det nordvestlige hjørnet av granas utbredelse i Europa;
(vi) Askeskuddsyke;

Air quality in Europe - 2018 report
The current report presents an updated overview and analysis of air quality in Europe from 2000 to 2016. It reviews the progress made towards meeting the air quality standards established in the two EU Ambient Air Quality Directives and towards the World Health Organization (WHO) air quality guidelines (AQGs). It also presents the latest findings and estimates on population and ecosystem exposure to the air pollutants with the greatest impacts and effects. The evaluation of the status of air quality is based mainly on reported ambient air measurements, in conjunction with modelling data and data on anthropogenic emissions and their evolution over time.

Microplastics in Norwegian coastal areas, rivers, lakes and air (MIKRONOR1)
							The Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljødirektoratet, NEA) tasked the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) to initiate Norway’s National microplastic monitoring program. The program “Microplastics in Norwegian coastal areas, rivers, lakes and air (MIKRONOR)”, was designed to target the multitude of environments in the Norwegian coastal, freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems. The primary aim is to provide information on levels and types of microplastics in aquatic environments as well as in air and build on the baseline data already generated for a number of these environments on previous assignments by NEA.
This report contains the first results of coastal sites, open marine waters, lakes, rivers and air including high-volume water samples (freshwater and marine, n=48), Ferrybox samples (marine, n=20), blue mussels (marine, n=71), vertical plankton net samples (marine, n=29) and 24 air samples (precipitation n= 12 and active air sampling n = 12).

The National Mercury (Hg) Assessment in Norway evaluates the connections among: (a) national, regional and global Hg policies and regulations, (b) emissions, releases, uses and exposure pathways of Hg, and (c) concentrations of Hg in the environment, biota, and humans, measured during 2000-2020. Our findings suggest that the key changes of Hg in humans and the environment are highly dependent on the quality of the datasets, yet connections both to national and regional sources, as well as climate related drivers could be made for some data sets.

The Forum for Air Quality Modelling (FAIRMODE) is a European network to exchange experiences and competence on the use of air quality models in the context of the Ambient Air Quality Directives. Its purpose is to identify and promote the use of good practices for air quality modelling and to propose harmonized ways to assess the quality of model-based air quality applications by EU Member States. The recommendations in this document are part of FAIRMODE’s contribution to the on-going fitness check of the two EU Ambient Air Quality Directives (Directives 2008/50/EC and 2004/107/EC) initiated by the European Commission. This document provides technical recommendations where the scientific consensus within FAIRMODE indicates that robust conclusions can be drawn, and identifies follow up actions. These recommendations might potentially affect the work of Member States in case they may be requested to be implemented. They may also be relevant to the outcome and follow-up to the fitness check of the Air Quality Directives. Finally, they have implications for the work of the FAIRMODE network itself, and guide future technical discussions

Environmental Contaminants in an Urban Fjord, 2019
This programme, “Environmental Contaminants in an Urban Fjord” has covered sampling and analyses of sediment and organisms in a marine food web of the Inner Oslofjord, in addition to samples of blood and eggs from herring gull. The programme also included inputs of pollutants via surface water (storm water), and effluent water and sludge from a sewage treatment plant. The bioaccumulation potential of the contaminants in the Oslo fjord food web was evaluated. The exposure to/accumulation of the contaminants was also assessed in birds. A vast number of chemical parameters have been quantified, in addition to some biological effect parameters in cod, and the report serves as a status description of the concentrations of these chemicals in different compartments of the Inner Oslofjord marine ecosystem.

Analysis of Member States’ 2019 GHG projections
This report provides a summary of the quality analysis of the EU Member States’ submission under Article 14 of the Monitoring Mechanism Regulation (MMR) in 2019. Under this obligation EU Member States have to submit updated GHG projections and related information biennially. The reported information undergoes several phases of QA/QC checks consisting of checks on timeliness, accuracy, completeness, consistency and comparability. In addition this report shows the results of a screening of the model factsheets as reported by the Member States. Details on the underlying QA/QC procedure are described in ETC/CME Eionet Report 2019/7.

Monitoring of long-range transported air pollutants in Norway, Annual Report 2017
This report presents results from the monitoring of atmospheric composition and deposition of air pollution in 2017, and focuses on main components in air and precipitation, particulate and gaseous phase of inorganic constituents, particulate carbonaceous matter, ground level ozone and particulate matter. The concentration levels were generally low in 2017 compared to previous years.

Migration analysis of chemical additives from indoor consumer plastic products
NILU has, on behalf of the Norwegian Environment Agency, performed chemical analyses of a selection of chemical additives in indoor consumer plastic products. The goal was to identify content and migration of the chemical additives in and from the products to particles and surfaces of the products at room temperature. The plastic products included; furniture wrap, wall papers, table cloths, shower curtains, floor tiles, mattresses, pillows, carpet underlays and a bathtub mat. Targeted chemicals were organophosphorous flame retardants (OPFRs), brominated flame retardants (BFRs) including tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), chlorinated paraffins (CPs) and dechloranes. MCCPs and SCCPs were found in ‰ to % levels in PVC containing products. Four of the OPFRs were found in up to ‰ levels in adhesive foils to be put on furniture or floor/walls and mattresses. None of the targeted brominated compounds nor melamine were detected in the product samples.

Ren luft for alle. ExtraStiftelsen project 2019/HE1-263918.
							In 2019, in the framework of Oslo being European Green Capital, NILU invited students from elementary schools to 
measure air pollution in their neighbourhood, using simple and affordable measuring methods based on paper and 
Vaseline. The students prepared the measuring devices and selected the places where they wanted to monitor. After one 
week, they retrieved the devices and used a scale to compare the amount of dust fastened to the Vaseline. All of the data 
gathered by the students was uploaded by the teachers to a website (https://luftaforalle.nilu.no/), where a map showed all the results from the participating schools. The school campaign has helped researchers to get data on particulate matter from many places where data was not available, and has increased awareness among the children about the sustainability challenges cities are facing.

Monitoring of greenhouse gases and aerosols at Svalbard and Birkenes in 2020. Annual report.
The report summarizes the activities and results of the greenhouse gas monitoring at the Zeppelin Observatory, situated on Svalbard in Arctic Norway, during the period 2001-2020, and the greenhouse gas monitoring and aerosol observations from Birkenes for 2009-2020.

NILU performed a test campaign for measurements of CF4 and C2F6 for stack emissions at Alcoa Mosjøen Smelter. Time-integrated samples were taken with evacuated canisters combined with low-flow restrictors for continuous sampling periods as long as 4 weeks. The samples were analyzed at NILU with a Medusa preconcentration method combined with GC-MS SIM. As a main conclusion, time integrated sampling together with Medusa GC-MS methodology is a very precise alternative to the traditional attempts to quantify PFC-emission.

Utslipp og spredning av støv fra LKAB i Narvik
Denne rapporten presenterer spredningsberegninger som estimerer LKAB sitt bidrag til forurensningssituasjonen i Narvik. Spredningsberegningene er basert på et anslag for det samlede støvutslippet fra både punktkilder og diffuse kilder via målt støvavsetning rundt anlegget. Spredningsberegningene som er utført med partikkelmodellen Flexpart-WRF, viser ingen overskridelse av grenseverdiene for PM10 eller PM2,5 utenfor LKABs industriområde.

Monitoring of the atmospheric ozone layer and natural ultraviolet radiation. Annual Report 2018.
							This report summarizes the results from the Norwegian monitoring programme on stratospheric ozone and UV radiation 
measurements. The ozone layer has been measured at three locations since 1979: in Oslo, Tromsø/Andøya and Ny-Ålesund. 
The UV measurements started in 1995. The results show that there was a significant decrease in stratospheric ozone above 
Norway between 1979 and 1997. After that the ozone layer stabilized at a level ~2% below pre-1980 level. 2018 was 
characterized by low summer ozone values in Oslo and a record high annual integrated UV-dose.

Key recommendations include harmonised sampling methods, expanding the monitoring programs, conducting measurement campaigns, and enhancing analysis techniques.
